Features:

Any number of users on any number of connected or unconnected LANs
can share a single, up-to-date, master electronic phonebook. This
program also works on a single LAN. Out-of-date expensive paper
company phonebooks become a thing of the past.

Users can key in, update, and delete their own entries from their own
workstations, but all other entries can only be read.

Each entry in the master phonebook file is only a mouse click and
a few keystrokes away.

LANs need not be on the same network nor even in the same city.

New entries, changed entries, and entries marked for deletion can
optionally be screened before they are posted to the master phonebook file.

Specifications:

The master file is updated and distributed by file transfer, one
LAN at a time. Each LAN is always internally 100% up to date.

Any method of file transfer is acceptable: E-mail, network copy,
BBS upload-download, modem, internet, or diskette.

If each LAN updates once a month, the master file will always be
about 97% up to date. All remaining pending changes will be
updated within a month.

A single LAN update takes a total of about 5 minutes of two
people's time. NO OTHER RESOURCES ARE NECESSARY. The Electronic
Phonebook is very inexpensive to maintain.

The program runs under any version of DOS or Windows. It must run
on a server for normal operations, but it can also be run on a
workstation for review and testing. It will run on an 80286 or
higher speed microchip. No extended or expanded memory is required.

A 1-megabyte phonebook file would hold 3,649 entries.

The entire full-featured phonebook program is included in FONE.ZIP
although it is resricted to 10 users per LAN. Installation and operating
instructions appear in the file INSTRUCT.TXT for easy printing. The system
within FONE.ZIP can be easily upgraded to an operational system with a
license for any number of users. Future upgrades to higher numbers of users
are also possible.
